I've always insisted we stay home (off the freeways) on Memorial Weekend. We use to have huge weekend crowds at our other place for swimming, BBQ, and cold beer. Today is the Memorial Service and reunion for the ship hubby's big brother died. Those that survived 3 1/2 years as P.O.W.s, only 25 suvivors are alive today. Few still make the trip to Houston each year as age and health is taking its toll. Only 6 came last year.This is always a tender time for hubby, honoring his Hero brother and shipmates.
